About our pickling cucumbers
Cucumbers are a bit of a thing for us, and our pickling cucumbers are our #1 seller. We grow them for firmness and crunch — picked young and small so they stay crisp through the brine and fit neatly in the jar. They are the foundation of a great dill pickle, whether you like them whole, in spears, or sliced into rounds.
For the best results, pair them with our award-winning Red Russian garlic and fresh-cut dill. We grow all three, so you can put up a batch of classic garlic dill pickles from a single farm.
Grown on the Saanich Peninsula
Valley View Farm is in Saanichton, on the Saanich Peninsula — minutes from Sidney and a short drive from Victoria. Our cucumbers are trellised to grow straight and clean, and like everything at Valley View Farm they are grown pesticide-free with a minimum of off-farm inputs.
Cucumbers come on fast in the heat of summer. Pre-orders open ahead of the harvest, which typically starts in mid-August. Availability is seasonal and quantities are limited, so we recommend ordering early.
